  23. There seems to be a lot of confusion about NewTek Systems Group. Here
  24. is the charter that NewTek Systems Group has put together. I hope it
  25. clears things up.

  32. The goal of NewTek Systems Group, a joint venture between NewTek, Inc.
  33.  
  34. and DeskStation Technology, is to advance and optimize the capabilities 
  35. of RISC based (MIPS and Alpha) Windows NT workstations for use in 3D 
  36. graphics and desktop video applications.
  37.  
  38. The joint venture allows each company to leverage their relative
  39. strengths in software and hardware development toward the production
  40. of a professional workstation that will compete in both the areas of
  41. performance and price with others in the market. 
  42.  
  43. The first products available through NSG:
  44.  
  45.     NewTek Raptor            MIPS R4600 
  46.                     Alpha 21064A
  47.                     Alpha 21164
  48.                     All available in various clock speeds.
  49.  
  50.     LightWave 3D            MIPS and DEC Alpha
  51.  
  52. Alpha and MIPS based LightWave 3D, for Windows NT, will be available
  53. exclusively through NewTek Systems Group in two forms:
  54.  
  55. 1) Part of a turnkey system on any NewTek Raptor. Each of these systems 
  56. will be configured to the specifications required by the purchaser. 
  57.  
  58. 2) LightWave 3D as a standalone product priced at $1995. These units
  59. will be sold direct from NewTek Systems Group.
  60.  
  61. Current owners of Alpha and MIPS based NT workstations or anyone
  62. purchasing one of these systems in the future will be able to acquire
  63. LightWave 3D for their systems through NSG at any time.

  66. The Future:
  67.  
  68. NewTek, Inc. will continue to develop LightWave for all platforms 
  69. currently specified (Amiga, Intel, DEC Alpha, MIPS and SGI) with the
  70. potential to add others to the mix. NewTek Systems Group will drive
  71. the optimization of LightWave for RISC based NT systems.

  73. NewTek Systems Group will also pursue the development of additional
  74. video tools which will provide greater performance and flexibility
  75. when coupled with the power of the RISC based processor.

  78. The Price:

  80. The development of the Alpha and MIPS based products will take
  81. additional resources, physical and financial. Considering the relative
  82. size of the market and NSG's goal to provide superior 3D graphics and
  83. video products for the professional marketplace we have determined
  84. that a price increase is unavoidable. Based upon the research that we
  85. have done a $1995 price for Alpha and MIPS, for Windows NT, based
  86. LightWave allows the program to remain the clear leader in price and
  87. performance. The price increase is effective immediately.
